LGBT History month occurs every February and its aim is to celebrate, promote and educate on the LGBT social movement and civil rights movement. It is a time to reflect on the past; the journey that LGBT people have been on and a look to the future. It is a fascinating and varied history that we aim to explore as part of this month.
As part of City of Wolverhampton Council’s LGBT History Month Celebrations they will be holding a special event at Arena Theatre. In this showcase we will be looking back at a series of interviews that were filmed as part of the Love Project. These will taken in 2012 to capture the experiences of the LGBT Community ten years after the revocation of Section 28. We will be showing a number of these interviews whilst have a wider discussion what is was like to be LGBT+ in 2012, what is it like to be LGBT+ in 2023 and what the LGBT+ Community is hopeful towards the future.
This will be held at the Arena Theatre. Doors open at 12:30 for a 13:00 start.
